Frequently Asked Questions
How can I join and actively help? How can I bring Few for Change to my campus?
Send us an email at fewforchange@gmail.com! We love being able to boost that number of "a few." We also have a Google Group, which contains discussion boards and current plans if you would like to actively participate at least by adding in your input!
Are my donations tax-deductible?
Yes! All donations will be tax-deductible under the 501c3 status of WorldLearning.
Will I be able to know who my money is helping?
As mentioned in How To Help, we're initiating a program (name has yet to be determined) where groups of friends, dorms, or even one person can donate collaboratively one scholarship for a specific student. This project will be initiated in the fall and yes, we will do all that is our power to let you know exactly who your money is helping!
Are Few for Change under any other larger organization?
Yes, we are under WorldLearning, the company and organization in charge of running the study abroad programs. Throught their reciprocity projects, we can help those families who gave us so much and perhaps change their futures in a small but powerful way.
What is SIT and how can I go on a trip such as this?
SIT is the School of Internationl Training (World Learning). It is a third party "university" based in Vermont that exists for the purpose of creating study abroad trips around the world. We love their philosophy on international learning... i.e. surround yourself with everything and anything in your international environment! From our perspective, it's definitely a less-structured and more involved program (for parents, don't worry it's very safe). In other programs, one might live their for a semester a come back feeling as if he/she had not learned the language or truly experienced the culture. SIT is not one of those programs. To get an idea of what the experience was like, please check out http://tasooey.blogspot.com. And for those not within the age range of the SIT programs and are still looking to explore, there are a multitude of other programs for the international traveler. Just get Googling!
